A new update has been pushed to Steam which is replacing the old version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with a copy that is similar to the newly released HD edition for Xbox 360. While this sounds like a good thing, it’s terrible news for PC gamers.

A total of 17 songs have been removed from the soundtrack due to expired licensing, which is completely unfair for those who purchased the game while the licence was valid. The 1920 x 1080 option which was previously implemented via a patch has been removed and even worse still, your old save games are not compatible with the update! Trying to load a previous save game will simply start a new game.

The only good news to come out of this is that Xbox 360 controller support is now native. It’s a hollow victory for those who have put in time on the game already, only to have their progress unloadable, their favourite songs removed from the game and their maximum resolution limited. Hopefully, Rockstar will push an update to the game in the near future to fix these issues, but for now it looks like you’ll have to ride out the storm or go play something else.

Games with open game world and exciting storyline, like GTA and Mafia series.
